Sir Omer Nadeem

What qualities do you respect and value in people you work with? Why are these qualities important to you?
I respect honesty and a good camaraderie. It is healthy for both the work environment and the work itself. In particular, I respect two qualities:
(1) Taking time out for enjoyment and relaxation.
(2) Not taking too much time out for enjoyment and relaxation.

Have you been involved in any extracurricular, community or volunteer activities?
Not in a significant manner. I have participated in swimming competitions and have done voluntary work on several occasions, e.g. as a table judge in Botball (Google it).

Describe a situation in which you failed at something. How did you handle the failure and what did you learn from it?
Perhaps my most significant failure was a mediocre O-level score, which was followed by a lot of discouraging remarks when I subsequently wanted to take 4 A-levels. I ignored the general comments and decided to struggle for what I wanted. In general, one must keep pushing when failure is staring you in the face. That’s what characterises a strong heart and that’s what I try to do.

What do you really want to do in life?
Help as many people as I can, in any way. I do not have much love for materialism but would really like to watch a Wimbledon final.

Tell us something about your family?
I love my family. I don’t know what more to say. Family matters most, then comes the rest.
